The chance of a war always increases when the rights of nations are forgotten, said Tomasz Sakiewicz, editor-in-chief of Gazeta Polska, at the renewal of the contract between the Civil Solidarity Foundation (CÖF-CÖKA) and Gazeta Polska in Budapest on Wednesday. László Csizmadia, the president of CÖF–CÖKA, stated that the exemplary historical friendship of the Hungarian and Polish peoples cannot be broken by any event.

Our shared history goes back a thousand years. The cooperation between the Hungarian and Polish nations is enormous. If the European Union had been built in a similar way to this - friendship based on respect - from the beginning, then we would definitely be somewhere else today - said Tomasz Sakiewicz, editor-in-chief of Gazeta Polska in Budapest, the Civil Solidarity Foundation (CÖF-CÖKA) and Gazeta Polska on the renewal of his contract.

It is known that CÖF–CÖKA signed a strategic contract with the Gazeta Polska 450 club in 2012. This contract will be renewed now, on the ten-year anniversary. Speaking about the war, Tomasz Sakiewicz explained that global changes are emerging in the world, and this affects Europe as well. As he detailed, almost as many people have already left Ukraine as live in Hungary today. In Poland, they fear that the war may spread further.

We know well from history that Russia asserts its interests by force. When it comes to interests, friendship doesn't matter to them, he added. Tomasz Sakiewicz believed that the chances of a war always increase when the rights of nations are forgotten.

Because of this, we, the peoples of Central Europe, are not only threatened from the east. They want to tell us from the West what democracy is. Moreover, they already want to punish Italy and Sweden because their people - using democratic means - chose differently than the European elite imagined. This perception needs to be changed. If the peoples of the world understood and embraced the foundations of our countries' cooperation, there would certainly be no war anywhere in the world today, and we would not have to talk about an economic crisis either. Every war starts from the fact that one nation thinks it is better than another, said the editor-in-chief, adding that he considers the EU to be at fault for not being able to prevent the outbreak of war.

The Russian-Ukrainian war not only put the heads of government of the EU in an unexpected situation, but also its countries and peoples. Russian aggression is unacceptable. The disregard for the rights of nations and nationalities and the curtailment of civil liberties are to be condemned on both sides - stated László Csizmadia. The president of CÖF-CÖKA added that the Hungarian and Polish people are on the side of peace. As he said, the exemplary historical friendship of the Hungarian and Polish peoples cannot be broken by any event.

The First and Second World Wars taught our people that the Nazi and Bolshevik aggressors are capable of anything. After a thoughtful assessment of the consequences of the Russian-Ukrainian war, it became clear that the V4 alliance is an inescapable link. It provides security against the dangerous advance of political and economic globalization, he said. László Csizmadia added that, in light of what was said, they see the time has come to supplement and strengthen the strategic cooperation between CÖF-CÖKA and Gazeta Polska.
